JAX PII - Pitch Shifter

Time Domain Pitch Shifter


Our time domain pitch shifter uses two ultra short circular delay buffers and fades between these buffers in alternating fashion with speed changed reading pointers. This method effectively creates a granular kind of pitch shifting effect with realtime audio streams. 

The sonic result has less phasing problems than the FFT based phase vocoding approach and it does not introduce a static latency. The pitch shifter is well suited for polyphonic material and drums. The sound tends to become rather raw and grainy than smeared.
